Cookie Policy

What this covers

Cookies are small files a website can store in your browser. We also use your browser's local storage, which works similarly — we mean both when we say "cookies" below. This page explains what Praatjie uses and why.

Always on: remembering your cookie choice

We store a small value in your browser (praatjie_consent) to remember whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies, so we don't ask you every time you visit. This isn't used to track you, and it's the only thing we store before you make a choice.

Optional: analytics

If you click "Accept analytics" on the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics (GA4), which sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_<id> to help us see roughly how many people visit, which pages they look at, and how they found us. This stays off until you say yes, and nothing from Google Analytics loads if you decline or ignore the banner.

Google processes this data under its own privacy practices — see Google's Privacy Policy and Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on if you'd like to opt out everywhere, not just on Praatjie.

What we don't use

We don't use advertising or marketing cookies, and we don't use cookies to track you across other websites.

Changing your mind

You can change your cookie choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page. You can also block or delete cookies entirely in your browser's settings, though that may affect how well some sites work.
