How it works

A game every day, a teacher every week

Five minutes a day

Bite-sized games with streaks, leagues and real pronunciation practice. Kids play it because it's fun, not because they have to.

Small weekly classes

Three to five children of the same age and level, with a vetted South African teacher, online and recorded for safety.

Progress you can see

Questions

Good to know

When does Praatjie start?

We're planning to open the first classes in early 2027. Founding families hear first and get the first pick of class times.

How much will it cost?

We'll share prices before launch. Signing up is free, and you'll try a class for free before deciding anything.

Which time zones do classes suit?

We're starting with times for the UK and Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Tell us where you are so we can plan around you.

Who are the teachers?

South African Afrikaans teachers, many of them qualified or retired school teachers. Each one is interviewed, reference-checked and background-checked.

Is it safe for children?

Classes happen only inside Praatjie, are recorded, and parents can join any lesson. Teachers never contact children outside the platform.

My child doesn't speak any Afrikaans yet. Is that okay?

Yes. Children are grouped by age and level, so complete beginners learn alongside other beginners.
